For International Women’s Day: a hot woman with a gun. Anna Torv plays FBI agent Olivia Dunham on “Fringe”. I’ve been watching this lately (I do love my sci-fi) and I’m hooked: Torv is awesome, John Noble is brilliant as the mad scientist, and growing up looks very good on the dark-haired boy from Dawson’s Creek. But what I wanted to say is that I love how Olivia is just a straight-up capable woman on this show. She’s career-driven and great at her job without any fuss being made about it; no scenes of breakdown over her empty nest or any such qualifier to “soften” her. In fact, Olivia isn’t presented as a strong woman so much as just strong, and it’s refreshing. More, pls.
