[Spoiler alert] At the end of a staggeringly good episode of Mad Men, the best moment of all comes after Peggy has told Don she’s leaving. We’ve watched her walk solemnly through the office, away from the celebrations, with her thermos under her arm. For a moment she looks sad standing alone in the hallway, but then, just as she’s about to step into the lift, she cracks up. I’m no Peggy Olson, but have you ever walked out of a job feeling like that? It’s pretty incredible.
On and this. (Written by Sierra DeMulder.)
“There are some things I want to do. I used to feel so small. I used to be scared of all the staggering open-endedness of my life. I used to feel like I would collapse under the weight of it all if I did anything more than survive. Not anymore. I refuse to believe I am not strong. I will no longer be afraid of my own potential. I know how close everything is and how completely possible it is to be happy.”
